How do I refer to Open Choice?

Please see our Referral Procedure, fill in the necessary forms including risk assessment and forward to Open Choice as soon as possible along with any other relevant information.

How soon can Open Choice provide a placement?

Once we have received the necessary paper work we will get in touch with you as soon as possible to meet with the young person/adult. Should we feel our services would be of benefit to the young person/adult then we would offer a placement at the end of this meeting. Accommodation can normally be set up within a matter of days subject to availabiity.

Where can Open Choice provide placements?

At present, Open Choice can provide placements across the whole of Bedfordshire and the North and West of Hertfordshire. We will try to offer accommodation in the young person/adults desired area, if this is not possible we will offer alternatives. All of our accommodation is fully furnished.

How much does Open Choice's services cost?

Our fees are very reasonable and have a wide range of choice. Please forward your request to your counties placement teams/commissioning departments.

How long can Open Choice work with my client?

Open Choice can work with your client for however long it is felt necessary, the time scale is flexible. Should accommodation be required, then we will set-up placements for a minimum of 3 to 6 months which are regularly reviewed with the possibility of being extended.

What work will Open Choice do with my client?

Please see Our Services area for further information. We also offer Independent Out Reach work for people who do not require accommodation from Open Choice.

My client is over 18 - can you still offer accommodation?

Yes.

My client has Mental Health issues, can you still offer accommodation with support?

Yes, provided that the risk is not too high for your client to be living semi-independently and the risk is not too high for our staff visiting and supporting your client.

My client is over 18 and has Learning Difficulties, can you offer accommodation with support?

Yes, provided that the risk is not too high for your client to be living semi-independently.

My client is a persistent Offender, do you offer placements to Offenders?

Yes we do, please see the Referral Procedure.

Do you offer shared housing with support?

Yes we can, but prefer to offer self contained accommodation for one person. Sharing will be considered depending on circumstances and the client.
